An engineered solution from Uflex addresses several retail and consumer challenges
Veetee, one of the largest basmati rice suppliers in the Uk, was facing challenges that were undermining its overall make value. Its larger bags were diminishing in shelf bear upon at the point of sale. The bags were also difficult to stack with frequent slippage while consumers were facing difficulty in carrying the large bags also as in opening them.
Uflex approached Veetee with a holistic solution that overcame these challenges while besides enhancing the brand's shelf affect. It offered Veetee a flexible pack with a slide to close zipper for forepart openability and front, back and lesser panels made with a 3-ply construction comprising stackable and metallized polyester, and polyethylene as a sealant layer.
The side panels and gussets are made of polyester and polyethylene, which permit transparent windows on either side then that consumers can see the rice within. The re-closable feature of the bag allows them to use as much rice as they need at a time while preserving its quality and olfactory property. The barrier properties of the handbag remain intact throughout the usage the product.
A soft handle
Anup Sachdeva, joint president ‒ Packaging (Global Exports) at Uflex says, "1 of the major hurting points that Veetee had been facing was the stiff dial handle that their old European converter was offering. These punched handles used to almost slit the fingers of the consumers ownership ten to fifteen kilogram bulk packs. In the bespoke packaging solution that we engineered for Veetee Rice, we have offered a handle that's on the side gusset. Information technology is infant soft and is made of a special proprietary polymeric limerick. No other convertor beyond the earth has been able to offer such a soft side handle. When consumers hold the rice pack through side handle, the eye of gravity of the load shifts downwards. This reduces the potential energy of the pack concomitantly lessening the strain in the hands of the consumers. This is pure physics!
"It is because of these soft handles that the filling productivity of the packers really shoots up. Allow's understand this picayune improve. Usually, when the side handles are stiff they do not completely flatten in the side gusset as a upshot of which fewer preformed packs tin be fed in the magazine of the filling and sealing automobile at a time. With difficult and stiff side handles, the number of packs per magazine hover somewhere around 20 to 25, whereas with our baby soft handle the number of packs per magazine goes up to equally high equally 125 to 150. Not only does this increase the filling efficiency and productivity but also slashes downward the labour price of the packer."
Loftier definition printing using an extended color gamut
Sachdeva adds, "Veetee wanted an augmented shelf appeal for the brand to stand out in an already inundated retail shelf. Trusting our capabilities, Veetee gave united states of america a complimentary mitt to modify its artwork. Our prepress department did an exceptionally good job with the graphics which Veetee'southward direction liked and canonical rather instantaneously. This was farther topped up with high definition reversed rotogravure press. The rotogravure cylinder for this chore was manufactured on our fully automatic robotic laser engraving line which ensures unmatched consistency in printing besides offering high definition image 6,400 dpi reproduction capability."
In addition, Uflex used the Extended Gamut Printing Process (EG-7) on the rotogravure press to enhance the color gamut and to help in standardization of the print run. The press was standardized on CMYK + 3 special inks (orangish, light-green and bluish). Past calculation these three inks to the traditional CMYK inks a larger gamut could exist produced and with less variation throughout the run. "This actually worked wonders in getting that unmistakable and alluring shelf appeal that the client had been yearning for. The pack has 5 panels that are fully utilised for offer a 360 degree branding canvas and emphatically engaging the consumers at the bespeak of sale," says Sachdeva.
For preventing flexible pouches and numberless from slipping and maintaining orderliness of the stacks, the company'southward films business has engineered a special stackable polyester film. Before, an expensive paper with a high coefficient of friction was manually placed under each stacked layer during palletization. The Uflex engineered solution for Veetee clearly obviates these costs and information technology has plainly replaced Veetee's earlier European supplier of many years.
While the solution for Veetee has attracted interest from other brand owners around the world, the company's clients already include many global brands including P&G, PepsiCo, Tata Global, Mondelez, L'Oreal, Britannia, Haldiram, Amul, Kimberly Clark, Ferrero Rocher, Perfetti, GSK, Nestle, Agrotech Foods, Coca-Cola, Wrigley and Johnson & Johnson.
