Lorex Continuous Mode Wont Change to Motion Detect
This article applies to the following products: W281AA, W282CA, W261AS, W482CAD, and W261AQ.
You can enable/disable the following settings from the Motion Detection screen:
- Motion Detection
- Smart Detection Settings
- Outdoor Zone
- Person Detection
- Vehicle Detection
- Smart Detection Cool Down
- Smart Sensitivity
- Motion Sensitivity
- Motion Zones™
- General Zone
- Person Zone
- Vehicle Zone
To enable/disable Motion Detection

Launch the Lorex Home app.

Tap icon above the channel thumbnail on the Devices screen.

Tap Motion Detection Settings.

Tap icon to enable Motion Detection. Tap again to disable.
Smart Detection Settings
Smart Detection Settings allows you to configure outdoor, person, and vehicle detection.

Outdoor Mode: Enable/disable outdoor mode.
Note: Turning on Outdoor Mode will enable vehicle detection. -
Person Detection: Enable/disable person detection mode.
Note: Turning on Person Detection mode will record video and only send notification when a person is detected. -
Vehicle Detection: Enable/disable vehicle detection mode.
Note: Turning on Vehicle Detection mode will record video and only send notification when a vehicle is detected. -
Smart Detection Cool Down: This feature allows your Lorex device to snooze up to maximum 30 seconds after initial motion is detected. You will not be notified of any additional smart detection notifications until after the specified cool down time is completed.
Note: The default cool down time is 30 seconds. -
Smart Sensitivity: Adjust the level of Smart Sensitivity (Low, Medium, or High) of your Lorex device according to your preference. The higher the sensitivity level, the less motion is required to trigger an event.
Note: Higher sensitivity will result in increased notifications.
To change Motion Sensitivity
You can adjust the level of Motion Sensitivity of your Lorex device according to your preference. The higher the sensitivity level, the less motion is required to trigger an event.
Note: Higher sensitivity will result in increased notifications.

Launch the Lorex Home app.

Tap icon above the channel thumbnail on the Devices screen.

Tap Motion Detection Settings.

Tap Motion Sensitivity.

Tap and select the level of Motion Sensitivity, then tap Save.
Configuring Motion Zones™
Motion Zone™ allows you to customize your device's motion detection region. Areas of the camera image that trigger unwanted motion events can be ignored, such as a busy sidewalk or trees blowing in the wind. Motion Zones™ screen consists of the following settings:
- General Motion Zone
- Person Motion Zone
- Vehicle Motion Zone
To set Motion Zones™

Launch the Lorex Home app.

Tap icon above the channel thumbnail on the Devices screen.

Tap Motion Detection Settings.

Tap Motion Zones™.
General Motion Zone
This setting can only detect motion in the specified area.
By default, the entire area has a blue overlay, meaning that a motion event happening anywhere on the screen will trigger an event.
To set customized General Motion Zone

Tap icon to remove the blue overlay from the entire image.

Tap and drag over the area where you want motion detection enabled.
Note: The deselected area will grey out and the selected area will be highlighted in blue. -
(Optional) Tap icon to exclude any area from the Motion Zones™.

(Optional) Tap icon switch the Motion Zones™ to the unselected area.

Tap Save.
Person Motion Zone
This setting can only detect motion from people in the specified area.
By default, the entire area has a blue overlay, meaning that a motion event happening anywhere on the screen will trigger an event.
To set customized Person Motion Zone

Tap and drag the rectangular corners over the area where you want person motion detection enabled.
Note: The deselected area will grey out and the selected area will be highlighted in blue. -
(Optional) Tap icon to switch the Motion Zones™ to the unselected area.

Tap Save.
Vehicle Motion Zone
This setting can only detect motion from vehicles in the specified area.
By default, the entire area has a blue overlay, meaning that a motion event happening anywhere on the screen will trigger an event.
To set customized Vehicle Motion Zone

Tap and drag the rectangular corners over the area where you want vehicle motion detection enabled.
Note: The deselected area will grey out and the selected area will be highlighted in blue. -
(Optional) Tap icon to switch the Motion Zones™ to the unselected area.

Tap Save.
